- You pay once. There's no subscription, and nothing renews or charges you again.

Where to buy
ContextNotes will be sold in two places: through Paddle on this website, and through the Microsoft Store. Purchases made through the Microsoft Store follow Microsoft's applicable purchase, billing and refund terms. Purchases made through Paddle follow Paddle's terms.
The price, payment, delivery and refund details on this page apply to purchases through Paddle. The Microsoft Store shows its own price, taxes and purchase terms when you buy there.
What you receive and how
You buy a digital license. Nothing physical is shipped. When you buy through Paddle, once Paddle confirms your payment:
- Paddle emails you a receipt.
- We email a secure, single-use link to the address you used at checkout. It opens Manage license, where you get your license key and the download link for the app.
- In ContextNotes, open Settings → License and activate the key. Activation needs an internet connection once.
If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. If it still hasn't arrived after an hour, or activation fails, email support@getcontextnotes.app with your Paddle order number and we'll sort it out.
License details
- Lifetime access. Lifetime access applies to the edition you buy. Updates released for that edition may be provided without additional charge. Future major versions may require a separate purchase. There's no expiry and nothing to renew.

- Without an active license, you can still open, read and copy your existing notes. Creating and editing notes need an activated license.

Pricing questions
Is this a one-time payment?
Yes. You pay US$4.99 once (plus any tax shown at checkout), and that's it.
Is there a subscription?
No. There's no subscription, free trial or automatic renewal.
Does ContextNotes work offline?
Yes. Writing and organizing notes works without an internet connection. You need to be online to buy, to activate your license once, and when moving it to another PC.
Do I need an account?
Not for taking notes. To buy, you give Paddle your email address for the receipt and license delivery. Managing your license uses a secure link sent to that address. There's no password to create.
Does ContextNotes work on Windows 10?
No. ContextNotes requires Windows 11, 64-bit (x64). It doesn't run on Windows 10, macOS, Linux or mobile devices.
Can I use the license on another computer?
One PC can be active at a time. To switch, deactivate the current PC in Manage license and activate on the other one.
What happens if I replace my PC?
Before you switch, back up your notes in Settings → Data and backups and copy the backup file to the new PC. Deactivate the old PC in Manage license, install ContextNotes on the new one, activate your key and restore the backup. If the old PC no longer works, email support and we'll release its activation.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Uninstalling ContextNotes can remove the notes stored on your PC. Keep an independent backup: a backup file saved outside ContextNotes, such as in your Documents folder or on another drive. Your license isn't lost: if you reinstall, you may need to deactivate the previous installation in Manage license before activating again.
How can I back up and restore notes?
In Settings → Data and backups, Back up notes saves a .cnbackup file to a folder you choose. You can also turn on automatic backups to a folder you choose, which keeps the three most recent copies. Restore backup replaces your current notes with a backup. It first saves a separate safety backup of what you have, then quits ContextNotes; reopen it afterwards, and choose your automatic-backup folder again if you use one. Backups aren't encrypted, so keep them somewhere private.
What does the lifetime license include?
Lifetime access applies to the edition you buy. Updates released for that edition may be provided without additional charge. Future major versions may require a separate purchase. The standard license covers one active PC at a time, for personal and commercial use, with all the features listed above. It doesn't include cloud services.
Are updates included?
Lifetime access applies to the edition you buy. Updates released for that edition may be provided without additional charge. Future major versions may require a separate purchase. We don't promise a schedule or unlimited future upgrades.
What is the refund policy?
Refund requests for ContextNotes may be submitted within 10 calendar days of the original purchase date. After 10 days, ordinary discretionary refund requests are generally declined, except where consumer law requires otherwise or Paddle approves a refund under its policies. For Microsoft Store purchases, Microsoft's refund terms apply. See the Refund Policy for details.
Can I use ContextNotes for work?
Yes. The license allows personal and commercial use, on one active PC at a time.
Can I buy ContextNotes in the Microsoft Store?
